I have been listening to the podcast for over a year now. Currently, I am 32 years old, married, and have a child on the way. My wife and I have been working in the public sector for 7 years now. We have bee extremely fortunate as we have been able to pay off our house and save roughly 70% of our annual income. We are not particularly high earners, living a modest life has been our pathway to financial independence.
I am planning on leaving the public sector in the next 9 months after fully vesting in our pension plan. My plans are to be self employed for the next 20 years in which we will both be looking forward to an early-ish retirement. Currently my wife will stay employed with the government to provide a steady source of income and health insurance benefits until the business can become solvent and provide steady income. At that point we both plan on running the business together.
I know this may be a lengthy introduction, but I hope to get to know other like minded people here to have discussions of life, dreams, experience, and of course money.
Thanks Kevin for sharing for about your self and situation.
